VeraLab is a complete computer lab management system that handles the day-to-day demands of university, college, school, training center and library environments. How VeraLab Works
VeraLab has two parts. The VeraLab Server is a web application where lab staff sign users in, manage waitlists, track issues, record shifts and run reports. VeraLab Guard, the client installed on each Windows or macOS workstation, reports sign-ins to the server, locks and unlocks the workstation, and carries out remote commands such as screenshots, process lists and messages. The server can perform all operations without the client except computer locking, surveillance and software metering.
VeraLab supports the two common ways labs sign users in:
- Counter sign-in. Lab Assistants assign incoming users to workstations from the Lab Assistant Dashboard, optionally reading student ID cards with a card reader.
- Self-service sign-in. Users log in to any available workstation with credentials from LDAP or Microsoft Active Directory. VeraLab checks each login against the Alert List and workstation availability and records the session.
Since VeraLab 26.1, a single unified client covers every sign-in method, and the sign-in mode for each room or department is set centrally from the server.
Out of the box, VeraLab provides predefined Lab Assistant, Supervisor, Manager, Technician, Administrator and License Administrator roles, each with its own set of tasks. Custom roles can be configured if desired.
