Q. I am Google Adwords client. How can I detect click fraud?
A. If an owner of Adsense account tries to cheat you, you will see some suspicious pattern in IP addresses of browsers that came to your website through Google Adsense.

When a user comes through Adsense, the referrer record in the access log will look like:

"http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/ads?client=ca-pub-5622644000569658&
dt=1151689685921&lmt=1151689681&prev_fmts=728x90_as&format=336x280_as&output=html&
channel=6455095411&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.softplatz.com%2FSoft%2FUtilities%2FOther%2FOdbc-4-All.html&
color_bg=FFFFFF&color_text=323232&color_link=000000&color_url=888888&color_border=FFFFFF&
ad_type=text&ref=http%3A%2F%2Fabc.com%2Fsoftware%2Fodbc-into-xml%2F&cc=100
&u_h=768&u_w=1024&u_ah=740&u_aw=1024&u_cd=32&u_tz=120&u_his=14&u_java=true&u_nplug=27&u_nmime=103"

where the referrer site URL is marked bold. In this example the referrer site is http://abc.com. If users came to your site from the same referrer too many times, chances are that owners of the site fraudulently click on your ads to get extra advertizing revenue.

Find all the occurrences of this referrer in your log file, copy the IP addresses into the textbox below and click "Get Locations". If you see some unnatural patterns in these IP addresses or their physical locations e.g. many come from the same country which has nothing to do with the site's audience, report it to Google. Most likely you've been defrauded.
